Suttons Wharf South, Mile End
- Borough: Tower Hamlets
- Architects: Stock Woolstencroft & Studio
- Contractors: Galliford Try Partnerships
- Acquired: March 2005
- Completed: Feb 2008
- Scheme Cost: £37million
The development proposals build upon the significant benefits achieved at the adjacent site, Suttons Wharf North, designed by Stock Woolstencroft Architects. Together the proposals create a significant new public green space connecting Mile End park and Meath gardens, providing a pedestrian/cycle friendly east/west route connecting Bethnal Green and Bow. The bridge over the regent canal will be constructed as part of development of the sites.
The site has a frontage onto the Regents canal overlooking Mile End Park and incorporates a communal residential atrium providing views for all residents over the park as well as providing a dramatic and distinctive address for the building.
Suttons Wharf South is a mixed tenure development featuring 169 residential units which also incorporates new office spaces and a cafe for the Group.
The scheme achieved a very good EcoHomes rating, located near to local amenities and public transport such as bus services and the underground stations at Mile End and Bethnal Green.
