  • Borough: Haringey
  • Architects: Pollard Thomas Edwards
  • Contractors: Galliford Try
  • Acquired: May 2001
  • Completed: February 2012
  • Scheme Cost: £32 million

Located on Hornsey Lane within the Crouch End district of Haringey, the Roden Court scheme involves the redevelopment of an existing site, from former YWCA housing into a mixed tenure development. Work is planned over two phases to minimise the disruption to residents.

The first phase will provide 66 homes, consisting of 48 new apartments for existing residents, 4 family units and 14 apartments for private sale. The second phase will feature 40 much needed extra care units for older people and 30 units for private sale. This tenure mix is designed to encourage the development of a diverse and sustainable community.

Existing residents will remain on site during the construction period and will be in their new homes during the building of the second phase. Phase 1 is scheduled to complete in June 2010 and Phase 2 in February 2012.

The development will utilise renewable energy sources and will produce at least 10% of the energy required to power the scheme on site. In addition it will feature green roofs to reduce the amount of rainwater run off. These areas will also have a huge visual impact and potentially become valuable ecological spaces for local wildlife. The site contains existing mature gardens and every care will be taken to maintain them as part of the development.
