Internal transfers
To qualify for a transfer to another One Housing Group property you must hold a permanent tenancy, have no rent arrears and have occupied your property for at least one year unless there are exceptional circumstances. You will need to complete an One Housing Group transfer application form, supply relevant documentation and a medical assessment form, if required.
Your application will then be processed, assessed and placed into one of four bands in accordance with your housing need. We will write to you telling you of the band you have been placed in and your position on the transfer waiting list.
Details of the banding system are available upon request.
Only a few properties become available each year, so you could be waiting for a number of years on this scheme. Priority is given to those who have been on the list the longest, those with serious medical conditions affected by their housing or those at serious risk due to harassment.
Toynbee tenants living in Tower Hamlets
Toynbee tenants living in Tower Hamlets must hold a permanent tenancy, have no rent arrears and have occupied your property for at least one year unless there are exceptional circumstances. Priority is given to those in most housing need, those with serious medical conditions affected by their housing or those at serious risk due to harassment.
Direct applicants
One Housing Group does not accept direct applicants. Our clients are referred via local authority nominations or referrals from housing agencies therefore; the group is unable to assist you directly. You do have the option of registering for housing with any local authority of your choice.
If you currently have a tenancy with a registered provider you may wish to consider a mutual exchange using one of the recognised sites such as HomeSwapper or House Exchange. Further details can be found below.
Mutual Exchange (HomeSwapper)
The process by which you literally exchange your property with another tenant is called Mutual Exchange. The swap could take place between you and another One Housing Group resident or a resident of another housing association or local authority. You must get your landlord’s permission before you swap homes. There are certain rules that apply and not everyone qualifies. You are not allowed to offer or accept money as part of an exchange. This could lead to you being evicted.
One Housing Group is a full member of the HomeSwapper mutual exchange scheme. Please visit www.homeswapper.co.uk to register for free. If you are a Toynbee London resident you can also fill out the Toynbee London Homeswapper Form. If you are a Toynbee Berkshire resident please fill out the Toynbee Berkshire Homeswapper Form. Once you have received your user name and password, you will have full access to this scheme. You will be able to search their extensive database for specific searches and receive automatic updates on your desired choices. Once you have found a property you wish to exchange with, please complete the Mutual Exchange application form in full and return it to us.
