Weather conditions at the moment are some of the coldest we’ve had all Winter, and we know how much this effects our residents - particularly those who are very young, elderly or vulnerable. This means it’s especially important to make sure you keep warm.
There are a number of ways you can make sure you stay warm and well, but here a few things to bear in mind:
- When venturing outside, even briefly, wear several thin layers rather than one thick one. Always wear a hat, scarf and gloves, too, as lots of heat is lost through your head.
- Try to heat your home as best you can. Keep doors and windows shut, use draft excluders, and heat the rooms you use most. A hot water bottle or electric blanket are great for during the night. If you experience problems with your heating, call our Customer Contact Centre on 0300 123 9966 or click here to report a repair.
- Take care when you’re out and about in snow or ice. Wear shoes with non-slip soles or plenty of grip, try to walk on surfaces that have been gritted and take your time.
