Resident Services

Payment problems

If you are finding it difficult to keep up with your rent payments, your income officer can talk to you in confidence, help you ensure you have all the benefits you are entitled to and make an arrangement to pay off your arrears. Please do not ignore the problem because that could put your tenancy at risk.

We also work in partnership with CHAS, a free and independent specialist in housing and debt advice. CHAS will assess your housing and debt problems, help with housing benefits queries, identify priority and secondary debt and agree action plans to deal with them.  This service is free to all One Housing Group tenants. For further information please contact your income officer.

You may be eligible to claim housing or welfare benefits that can go towards paying your rent or general living expenses. To find out what you are entitled to please contact your local council or the Citizens' Advice Bureau.

Tenants who are in receipt of welfare benefits or are on a low income will be entitled to receive housing benefit to cover some or all of the rent due.

You will need to keep your local housing benefit office informed of any changes in your income or circumstances and respond promptly to any requests for information that you receive from them.
