Our People – Island Homes Housing Association Board

  • Terry Stacy (chair)

    Terry has held a number of senior roles in various housing association boards and brings with him over 20 years of knowledge and experience at a senior level in the housing sector. Before becoming chair of Island Homes Terry was chair of Old Ford Housing Association and was a board member of the Circle Anglia Group. He is also a director of the government’s Housing Ombudsman Service and a tenant inspection advisor to the audit commission, and a member of the Homes and Communities Agency London Housing board.
  • Pam Cole- resident member

    Pam has been a resident on the Isle of Dogs for the last 28 years. She is now retired, but previously worked as a tutor in adult education. She set up the Kingsbridge tenants and residents association and has been a long-standing volunteer on the Island history project. Pam was a member of the former board and is also on the steering committee for housing choice. 
  • Mary Goyder- independent member

    Mary is currently employed as company secretary for the Partnership of East London Co-operatives Ltd, a community benefit mutual society that provides out-of-hours cover for GPs and other primary healthcare services in east London and Essex. She was previously director of corporate services and company secretary at CityWest Homes Ltd, and before that worked for Westminster council in a number of housing roles. Mary is particularly interested in ways of involving residents in improving the management of their homes.
  • Rumana Khair- independent member

    Rumana is a RIBA-registered architect who has focused on social housing. She currently works for a housing association in south east London as a stock improvement manager. She has many years of experience in project and contract management involving resident consultation. Rumana has successfully delivered major estate refurbishment and large scale decent homes rolling programmes at Hackney council. She is of Bangladeshi origin and a fluent Bengali speaker.
  • Mohammed Miaum- resident member

    Mohammed has been a resident on the Isle of Dogs for over 20 years. He has extensive experience in community development with a specialism in community empowerment and participation. He also works for the Island neighbourhood project which is a local third sector organisation providing vital community based projects. In a voluntary capacity, Mohammed is the chair of the Island Bengali Welfare Organisation which works across the Island in providing projects ranging from mother and toddler groups to training workshops.
  • Jan Bros- resident member

    Jan has lived on the Isle of Dogs for 31 years and is a passionate believer in resident involvement. She has been a neighbourhood manager for the Tower Hamlets Partnership, and has considerable experience in training and regeneration in social housing, public sector finance, contract management, and procurement of major works contracts. She is currently the managing director of a social enterprise focusing on renewal and regeneration projects in east London.
  • Carol Yarde

    Carol has lived on the Samuda estate for 23 years, starting her local government career as an old people's warden on the estate. She has 28 years experience of working in local government and currently heads up the adults and housing transformation Programme.  She has extensive knowledge of managing external consultants and contracts. Her other skills lie in policy, service improvement, implementation of new process and working in political environments. As well as being the resident member on the group board, she is also a member of the Island Homes housing association board.
  • Leila Musa

    Leila has lived on the Isle of Dogs for the past decade and was previously a parent governor at Arnhem Wharf Primary School . She has extensive experience in the housing sector within a local authority setting and also private sector.  Leila is currently a strategy and planning manager at a local Arms Length Organisation where her remit includes policy & strategy covering environmental sustainability; energy efficiency and housing related disability; and data management.  She has previously worked as a tenant support officer, and a housing advice and options team leader. Leila is skilled in policy and strategy; public sector finance, asset management and management of major works contracts. 
  • Ed Beswick

    Ed is the newest member of the board and has a keen interest in improving services to residents. He has been working in the facilities management industry for the last 15 years and brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to the role.
